Quality Assurance and Standards
Defence procurement often involves specific requirements relating to quality, traceability, documentation and security of supply. DALO therefore expects suppliers to operate robust quality management systems and maintain processes that support consistent, reliable production and delivery throughout the contract lifecycle.
Quality Management standards and assurance requirements
Depending on the nature of the contract and the complexity of the supplies or services, DALO may require suppliers to comply with recognised quality management standards and assurance requirements. Such requirements are intended to promote consistent quality, reduce the risk of systematic defects and support effective contract performance.
Depending on the procurement, suppliers may be required to comply with, for example:
- ISO 9001
- AQAP standards (NATO Allied Quality Assurance Publications)
- AS/EN 9100 for the aerospace and defence sector
AQAP standards are used throughout NATO to establish a common framework for quality assurance in defence procurement. They support a shared understanding of quality requirements between contracting authorities and suppliers and contribute to effective contract management.
AQAP standards typically address:
- Process management
- Risk management
- Configuration management
- Traceability
- Continual improvement
Certification and Documentation
Accredited certification, including AQAP certification where relevant, can facilitate efficient and transparent cooperation between your organisation and DALO. Certification may also provide objective evidence that appropriate quality management systems and procedures have been implemented.
However, certification does not replace contractual obligations, nor does it affect DALO's assessment of compliance with the specific requirements of an individual procurement procedure or contract.
A valid certificate issued by a certification body accredited by DANAK provides assurance that appropriate quality management procedures have been established by the supplier. In certain procurement procedures, such certification may also support DALO's initial assessment of a supplier's capability where quality assurance forms part of the selection or evaluation process.
